Merry Christmas

So it's been such a LONG time since I have blogged and I really do miss it so much, I keep saying that I am going to get back in to it and I really do plan on doing this but with Magic being poorly and one thing after another, time just runs away with me. So first of all Merry christmas I hope that you all had a fantastic time!  Merry Christmas from my amazing little man and I.  So I got some amazing presents off my family they included, a framed clipping of Magic's hoof, from the first time that Magic was ever trimmed by the farrier! His feet were just so tiny. I got a lovely charm off my daddy for my pandora bracelet and two charms from my boyfriend he really did surprise me. He got me a pudsey charm that I have been wanting for a long time, and a charm that says 'home sweet home' and is a home, to represent our new home next year, but more to come on to that later! I also got a soda stream, socks, some beauty products, hand made by my mummy bean bags and dre

Magic's update

wow it's been a long time since i've updated here, but I haven't forgotten all you guys! I also want to get back in to blogging as I haven't done it in a while.  So I'm going to start with an update on Magic, the quick summary is Magic's poorly. On the 15th November, I went up to check on him. He was lying in his stable and he couldn't get up, he could get his front legs up but not his back, eventually I got him up with the help of Jack. He came out of the stable hopping lame, I eventually managed to get him walking around the school and he was slightly weight bearing on his back legs. However when he was standing still he would hold one leg up, then switch to holding the other back leg up and he would just constantly do this. The vets came out and were completely baffled by him they put him on bute, and said to give him gentle turn out, so this is what he did but he didn't improve if anything he got worse.  Then he came in one day looking even

Another couple of quiet days with my fur babies :)

The past two days have been even quieter. Monday I didn't do a lot, jack and I are working on our car at the moment, so we spent a good two hours tinting the windows while the dogs were running around in my mums garden. It took ages to get the back window right, and it's still not perfect but for a first time trying it I don't think it was that bad either, now all we have left to do is the two front windows (not the windscreen). We then came back to the flat, where Jack chilled out on the playstation and my body decided that I needed some sleep, so I spent about 4 hours sleeping. I saw Magic, and gave him a good brush. He's turning in to a really fluffy baby at the moment, I love this time of the year he goes LOADS darker and becomes super fluffy and cuddly! I also gave Ghost a brush, as his owner is still injured and unable to see him so I figured it would be nice to give him some love and attention.  Today has been another day where I have done the square root of

Digging dogs, and chilled out ponies.

Well the past few days have been interesting to say the least. After our long walk with Magic on Thursday, we spent the day chilling out on Friday. We spent the morning playing games, and catching up on what was on T.V. before heading over to my mums with the dogs. While they spent a good few hours playing out in the garden, Jack and my mum made brownies, and I spoke to my dad for a bit. Before Jack and I then decided to fit our new speakers in our new car. It took us a while to do it but we managed it in the end. We then came home and chilled out, while Jack started playing our new game Mafia 3 I spent some time watching T.V.  Saturday was another quiet day,  I didn't see Magic today, as to be honest I was exhausted. He hadn't been in and he didn't need anything doing to his stable (I did check) so I left him out in the field with his friends for a few days. Today's been another quiet day, that is until I got back to the flat. Now as you'll know from the post

I'm back, and I've got plenty of pictures to share!

Well I tried writing this blog post yesterday, and then today I ended up deleting everything. It's been that long since I've blogged that I don't think I'd be able to catch you all up on everything in just one post. So I'm going to go about it differently and start off by letting you  know what I've been up to recently and then I'll just fill in the gaps as I go along. For those of you who don't have me on Facebook I've also had Magic in Derbyshire for a year now, while I've owned him since day one he's been all mine officially for just over a year and what a journey it's been.  So today I took Magic for a walk, I think we calculated that we walked between 3 miles and 4 miles. This was the first time that I had taken Magic out in ages due to his lameness issues which are now all resolved. Which also enabled us to give him his second proper trim for his hooves. The farrier was really good with him, I wasn't actually there as I&#

207 - Magic is LAME

Okay, he is not literally lame, but he is. I think i remember telling you guys about the splinter that Magic had, well he is still lame, I know that they had to take a bit off his frog away so I do expect it to be sensitive but today the poor sod just looked LAME! There's no other word for it, he looked sad and droopy and just not his normal happy self. Tomorrow Lynne should be back and I know when she is the farrier is coming out to check on all of the horses so maybe then I will have an answer to what is wrong with Magic. If not it looks like it is going to be a nice vets bill for us, the joys. Other than that Magic is fine, he's looking nice, his weight is good and he's growing rapidly. It amazes me just how big he is sometimes, and he's got plenty more growing to do. He loves his cuddles and fuss, even when he is out in the field and I just go and sit with him. He loves to be groomed although he doesn't love to have his feet picked up but this is something that

update for you all

well things have been super busy here, Casper hasn't been very well, Magic's been lame and I've been ill. Jack had a job then lost his job, then I've been working on my own business creating personalised products so first things first. Magic.  Magic is doing really, we are doing lots of work on him picking his feet up, he is fine with his front ones but his back ones he's still a bit off with. He's been lame in his front foot as well the opposite one to that he has an abscess in, then this time he had a 3 inch splinter in his frog, that wasn't visible to the human eye. This had developed an abscess that the farrier burst, but for over a week after he was still lame, so been poulticing his foot, keeping him on box rest but I think that ended up doing more damage than good because he freaked out being in on his own so he went back out with the rest of them. I bought him a cheap bridle yesterday for when I am getting him used to the feel.  He's coming

180. Flat footed and a sneaky vidoe!

Well the past few days have't really been that eventful to be honest. For the past three days I've been having health issues with passing out again, including yesterday passing out down my flat stairs while on the way to take my dog out. Which I've got to say was quite painful and uncomfortable. I've also been none stop sleeping for the past few days and really couldn't tell you why, I'm just not able to stay awake for whatever reason.  Magic is doing really well on Monday I thought that he was a bit off, Mum had bought him in from the field in the morning as I wasn't very well and fed him and then I went up to see him in the evening. When I got there we did a bit more work on getting him used to having his bit in, which i've got to say he excelled himself at, and as he was walking around he didn't look 100% himself. But then as I went to put him in the field I noticed that his front right leg (if you were looking at him from behind) looked like

177. Mia and catch up time

Sorry guys for being MIA for a while I've only just managed to get proper wifi sorted in the flat up until Wednesday I had been using a dongle that my mum paid for and then on Wednesday I finally got a telephone line fitted and broadband. I started off by using talk talk, but they were telling me that it was 'normal for it to take 45 minutes for it to load one page'. So then I went in to town and connected to Virgin and as soon as it was fitted it was working straight away on some of the fastest broadband speeds that I've ever seen which was amazing.  Magic is doing really well, he's turning into a lovely sweet horse. He loves being brushed and the other day he had his first proper bath, only for it to rain the next day and magic to end up rolling in the worlds biggest puddle ever. He came in looking like the worlds biggest mud monster ever. He's also getting loads better at picking his feet up, we still have lots more work to do on the back ones but he'

Advice please

Okay guys so I'm looking for advice over a couple of things. Magic is now just over one, when he turned one I used some bailing twine as advised by my yard owner to measure how big a bit Magic would need and it came back as a 5 inch happy mouth snaffle, I got the one with a lozenge in. However today when I went to put it in he let me put it in fine and then kept putting it under his tongue, but every time I went to look in his mouth he'd put his tongue back again. Can anyone give me any advice on whether this is just part of his learning process or whether this is because it's too big or something like this? Or is it just that I am not managing to get the bit high enough?  See my boy has such a stunning coat, and is looking good, just looking slightly thin at the moment in time.  Also another thing is Magic has one large feed a day (the amount is still with in the guidelines and restrictions though), and he comes in for an hour or so and will eat one large hay net in

141. Midnight Magic is now one and VIDEOS.

Well those of you that know me and have got me on Facebook will have seen that on the 19th May Magic turned one and he got a birthday present, well it was a present for me but it meant work for him. He also got two small likits for his swinging ball as I'm finding these really hard to be able to find and buy at the moment. Apparently there is a problem with manufacturing at the moment. I bought Magic a 5inch happy mouth snaffle bit with a lozenge in the middle. I then decided that his birthday would be the start of his training, so I went up to the stable bought him in and gave him a really good brush. After this I decided to put his bit in for the first time, I connected two pieces of bailing twine to the bit and put it in. I made sure to stand at his left shoulder and put it on as if I was putting a bridle on him. I then connected the bailing twine to one of the metal loops on his head collar to hold it in place using a bow. I kept it in for a few minutes and then took it out ag

134. The joys of being ill.

Well it was bad enough when it was just me that had got this horrible bug that goes around, it causes sneezing, coughing and an extremely painful throat, but now Jack has got it as well. So for the weekend when it has decided to be really warm we've both been in the flat feeling rubbish, however we managed a few hours in the sun yesterday to do Magic. Then in the evening we took Casper for a walk and then today we managed to do exactly the same.  Magic is coming on really well, he's grown loads and in four days he will be one year old, and it still amazes me as to how quickly the time flies. I plan on getting him a bit and a few other things but unfortunately that is going to have to wait until I have sorted out my financial situation fully. He's finally nearly fully got rid of his dreadlocks look to, he's just got the last few long hairs on his belly to go and then he is going to look like a smart clean horse. As much as I love having a baby horse I can't wait

131. Who Am I?

Recently I've been seeing lots of things on facebook about what makes a person who they are, with it coming to the end of the university year lots of people that I want to school with are ending that mile stone. I see lots of comments about this is the end of their journey making them who they are but I completely disagree with this because I don't think that the journey to being you will ever end. As the majority of you will know I have suffered with long term illness and health problems since I was the age of 11, you will also know that I was studying commercial photography at university. However at the end of last year I had to make an extremely tough decision due to my ill health and personal stress problems I made the choice to 'quit' university. Now for a while this made me feel like a complete and utter failure. I've never been good at making my mind up but I don't normally give in, so for ages to myself I was just a fail. Which wound me up and drove me

130. Almost one and our five year plan!

Well I can't believe in nine days my not so little Midnight Magic will almost be one, and boy what a sweet heart he really is. This time last year I was planning on saving up, getting an older horse and having something that I could ride every day. Then came magic's baby picture, I'd read the night before about a baby that had been born out of a black mare and lippy and just from that description I knew that he was going to be the boy that I wanted. I went to see him at less than 24 hours old and I have never looked back since. There has been blood, sweat and tears, moments that I wanted to scream and give in and then days like today where I look at the bond that we have and think every single second of it was worth it.  Now nine days away from him being one I'm planning on buying him his first bit, I want to get him an apple flavoured snaffle with a lozenge happy mouth bit. I don't see the point in getting something more complicated when at the end of the day

127. Horse filled day.

Today has been a really good day, even if I did wake up feeling like death warmed up. Unfortunately it feels like I have got tonsilitis again, it's the start of a new year and the start of a count down until I can get my tonsils taken out, but knowing my luck I won't have it enough times in a year.  But anyway I rode a new horse this morning, I'm sure in my posts somewhere I will have mentioned Stan Kelly's horse, well today I got to ride him. He's 17.2hh I think and 15 years old. He is lovely to ride. He is slightly similar to ride to Gatsby but in other ways he is completely different. He's a lot easier to get in to an outline than I expected, once you really sit in to his saddle, and sit in to him he drops down. The key to riding him was not to use a lot of hand although to make sure that I got him off the right rein as he likes to grab it and try and hold on to it. When i first started riding him I didn't think that he was going to be that easy, but

Day 121 - All up to date

well i have finally managed to get up to date with reading everyones lovely comments on my blog! I would just like to say a massive thank you to everyone that still comments on my blog. I really do appreciate not only the feed back but also the help that you guys give me. I feel that by writing a blog, I have created a whole online support system I know that might sound insane but it's just how i feel at the moment. Magic is coming on in leaps and bounds, he still has things that he hates me doing. Like at the moment it's brushing his tummy because he's all knotted from the mud, the length of the fur and the fact that it changing from a baby winter coat to by the looks of it a nice summer coat. He's got loads better at having his feed put in to the point where I now just go in and put the food on my own. He's really getting better with doing that. He's come on in leaps and bounds about having his head collar taken off all though I'll admit we battled with

Day 119 - The friendly Ghost, Gelding and new beginnings.

Well it's been a while since I have posted and lost has changed since the last time I posted on here. So the first thing that I have got to tell you all is the fact that I have now moved out of living with my mum and dad, I've got a nice little flat not far from them and not far from Magic, and share a flat with my boyfriend who is here most nights. The flat's nice and homely, it's small but it's something that I've gotten used to.  Aha i love this photo of the Mr and I on the way to the pub earlier.  The next thing that I've got to tell you all is that Magic has finally been gelded, it was horrible to watch and something that I will definitely never want to see ever again but he seems happier now that he's been done. He was never a angry or mad horse before but he is even quieter now. I haven't done much in hand work with him recently due to being really unwell but I have still got to see him lots which I've really enjoyed. He's curre

86. Lots of news for you

well if I have done my maths right then today is the 86th day of the year it's mad to think that it won't be long until it's the 100th day of the year. Time really does fly by without people noticing. Well I figured it's about time that I let everyone in on why I haven't been writing on my blog recently there has been several reasons really. The first one is i have got some news but I didn't want to Jinx myself until I knew if it was true or not. On Tuesday at 12 pm I'll be getting the keys to my own flat.  While Iam really excited I am also kind of super nervous.  I know that it is a big step to be taking but at the moment I just personally feel like it's the right thing to do at the minute. Don't get me wrong I think that I'll have some days where I am going to struggle but believe me when I say that I'm going to try my hardest. The next thing is that once again my health hasn't been the best except this time it has ended up with me h

78. I think but i'm losing track of days

Tonight's post is just a brief post because i'm watching an interesting documentary on murders. I know that some people might find this morbid but I actually find it really interesting so I want to actually manage to get in to it. Things are going well with Magic. I've got no riding tomorrow though but I will explain it all tomorrow :) Until Next Time Amber and Magic

77. Back to regular blogging.

Magic really does make me laugh, he's been doing things that are funny for the past few days. This morning when I went up to do his stable he was no where to be seen, so I did all the inside of his stable, got his feed ready for tonight, and still magic was no where to be seen. The next thing that I know I was doing his Haynets and I had just watched Lynn call all the horses and seen them come running up. I was in the middle of filling the Haynets when all I heard was 'oi what are you doing' so I shouted back to Jack to ask him what was up as all he was supposed to be doing was putting his Haynets in the stable, and as I had come out the area where the haylage is stored I looked to the left and stood there was magic playing with the feed bucket. Jack thought that he had escaped and then Lynn told me that she had let magic come up. So I grabbed hold of his head collar and walked him up to the stable so that I could carry on with filling the Haynets but after that I really co

76. Inspired and motivated

Well it has been a few days since I've had time to post on here life has been hectic but I haven't really been doing anything so because I didn't want to come repetitive I chose not to post anything until I'd got something interesting to tell you all. However I changed my mind tonight after seeing some lovely comments from one of y my followers. I always love peoples comments but this one particular blogger and her awesome horse chrome have really inspired me over the time that I have been reading her blog and her lovely comments inspired me to write a post tonight. Nothing has been really different here, magic is loving being at his new yard, he's starting to get a really good bond with the yard owner and she says that she really likes him it's hard to believe that since he has been at his new home for over four weeks now. He's loving being g out with the herd and it really has made a massive improvement in his temperament and also how he reacts with his

70. 601st post

Well from my blog title you will see that today is the 70th day of the year and personally I think that, that is insane. It feels like it was only yesterday that it was the start of the new year and had just been Christmas, what feels even stranger to me is magics age. In 10 days it will be exactly two months until magic is one! And OMG how time has flied. It's currently 6.35 am realistically I should be curled up in bed with the Mr fast asleep but tonight that is not the case and so far I've been awake since jusy before 5am. The weird thing about tonight is that all my tablets were taken at a 'reasonable' time so that in itself should be a guaranteed way to keep me in a deep sleep until the morning but not so much the past few days. Another thing that I don't think is he long with the sleep but I do know is helping with my weight is the fact that I am just stopping snacking at night.  I've been trying to do this for a while but it normally lasts two or three we

69. Opinions appreciated

Okay guys so today's post is going to be a little bit different from normal instead of writing about what I've done for the day I am looking for some advice and opinions. When magic moved from the old yard to the new yard he swapped from being on hay to haylage for the first few weeks he was staying in while all the others were out and was getting to feeds a day as well as two medium sized Haynets. Magic then started going out all day so I cut out his feed in the morning and decided that he didn't really need it as you could see he was starting to put lots of weight on. So for the last two weeks he has been getting one hard feed in the evening like all the yard owners horses get at the same time as her horses.  Then he's been getting haylage, but at the minute he's going through two and sometimes three Haynets in the night, and I don't know if this is normal, he doesn't look particularly over weight or anything like that.  When I first moved him we had ass

68. Being big kids for the day

Today was a quieter day than I have had recently the first thing that I did when I finally woke up at around lunch time was go and sort magics stable out. I gave him a next big bed and jack filled his Haynet up again like normal. We have our own routine going and by the time that I have done magic's stable then jack has normally finished doing the Haynets. As the original plan for the day was to go and help Josh finish sorting his flat out I'd put Magics food in the stable next to him so that Lynn could just pop his food in this evening, as I tend to have a habit of falling asleep at joshs. It's due to a combination of the tablets that I am on and just the fact that I am not sleeping fully through the night and that I keep waking up then going to sleep again. However that didn't end up happening so instead jack and I ended up chilling in matlock bath for the day. Ever since I was a kid I have always loved playing on the arcades so that is what I decided that I should
